FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions can be used in treatment systems for drinking water from underground sources for biological purification thereof from hydrogen sulphide. The purification method is carried out in two steps. First, aerobic conditions are created in the water to be purified, wherein the initial water is saturated with atmospheric oxygen by aeration with concentration of dissolved oxygen not greater than 50% of its solubility. Biochemical oxidation is carried out with colourless sulphur bacteria in two steps. The first step is carried out in a bioreactor with accumulation of the formed sulphur within microbial cells, and then in a filter - biosorber with oxidation of the intracellular sulphur to sulphuric acid. The device comprises a bioreactor (1) and a biosorber (7). The bioreactor (1), having a flooded plastic load (2) in a downward stream of water with a hydraulic load of 4.0-4.5 m3/m2·h, having specific surface area of not less than 150-200 m2/m3 and height of not less than 1.5-2.0 m, fitted with an aerator (3) with a controlled aeration level of the initial water, carries out purification at the first step. The biosorber (7), fitted with a non-uniform polymer floating granular load (8) with grain size of 0.8-2.5 mm and height of 1.0-1.5 m with filtering rate of 4.0-4.5 m/h, provides purification at the second step. Purified water with high purification quality accumulates in the space over the filter (9) and fed into reservoirs.
