FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to surgical instruments, namely to incision and suturing instruments, and particularly staple cartridges designed for tissue incision and stapling. The staple cartridge comprises a number of staples and an implantable cartridge body. The implantable cartridge body comprises a compressible material. A number of suturing staples are arranged in the compressible material. The implantable cartridge body comprises a first end, second end and retainers. The compressible material has a first thickness at the above first end. The compressible material has a second thickness at the above second end. The first thickness is different from the second thickness. The retainers are configured to hold the implantable cartridge body in a staple cartridge groove in a first direction, wherein a first end of the staple cartridge is positioned in a distal end of the staple cartridge groove, and in a second direction, wherein a second end of the staple cartridge is positioned in a distal end of the staple cartridge groove.
EFFECT: structural improvement of the instrument.
