FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to an absorbent product configured to measure urine ionic strength. A product comprises a liquid-impermeable layer; a liquid-permeable layer; an absorbent inner layer between the liquid-impermeable layer and liquid-permeable layer; a lateral flow device integrated into the product and mounted so that it is found in a fluid connection with a user's urine flow. The device comprises: a buffer zone which contains polymeric electrolyte, and a detection zone or an indication zone, wherein the detection zone comprises non-diffusion immobilised: a buffer component containing weak polymeric acid and weak polymeric base with pKa ≤ 10-3, and a substance of the class of charged polymeric surfactants sensitive to relative ion concentrations in a sample solution, and charged pH indicator, a charge of which is opposed to that of the polymeric surfactant, wherein the charged polymeric surfactant is soluble in amounts exceeding or approximately equal to 1 wt % (≥ 1 wt % of the dissolved substance) in water and water solutions having low ion concentrations making ≤ 0.1 wt % of salts, but insoluble (< 1 wt % of the dissolved substance) in a water solution having high ion concentrations making > 0.1 wt % of salts.
