FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: arched energy band can form a shear wave source which is focused into a thin line, which increases resolution and sensitivity of measuring equipment used to detect the effect of a shear wave. The energy band forms a shear wave front, which is a plane wave not subject to 1/R-radial scattering of intensity of the excising pulse, as in the case of a normal exciting pulse generated along the vector of a single exciting pulse.
EFFECT: energy band can be flat, arched or have any other two-dimensional or three-dimensional shape.
