FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method is implemented by the cyclic and periodic movement of the tool with abrasive grains relatively to the crystal. On the crystal surface the crystallographic direction is specified, relative to it symmetrical crystallographic directions are selected, and the crystal is oriented relative to the tool as per the set crystallographic direction. The tool is moved ensuring the movement of the said grains with different linear speeds, being a periodic time function, they are specified on the condition of formation of elastic deformation waves in the crystal volume along the said symmetrical crystallographic directions on its surface. The difference of the linear speeds of the abrasive grains movement along the selected crystallographic directions is set with the assurance of the vortex bunch of energy of elastic deformations with angular moment in the surficial region of the crystal.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of the crystals treatment upon reduced labour intensity relating their gem-cutting, and assurance of the possibility of creation of new types of jewellery.
