FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for creation of model of transient retinal ischemia by creation of high intraocular pressure in experimental animals. Method for simulating transient retinal ischemia in rats involves creation of ocular hypertension. Increase of pressure created by pumping air into the anterior chamber under the control pressure. Device comprises an injection needle, pneumatically connected by flexible tubes with aneroid pressure gauge and connected in series receiver made in the form of the cuff from the tonometer and blower with valve. Air is forced through the cannula of the injection needle. Needle is performed in a limb at an angle of 25-35 degrees to the plane limited limb. Then the open end of the needle is placed between an internal surface of cornea closer to the latter. Pressure is created in the anterior eye chamber 110-130 mm Hg. Said pressure is kept for 20-60 minutes.
EFFECT: method widens the range of modelled retinal pathology in experimental animals due to random increase possible degrees of transient retinal ischemia by metering and control of pressure fed into the anterior chamber; simplicity, accessibility and economy of modelling, providing reliability, reproducibility of simulation by achieving guaranteed transitority created ischemia by objectification of proportioning and control of pressure fed into the anterior chamber.
