SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of controlling a drying machine (1) with a rotating drum; the drying machine (1) with a rotating drum comprises a rotating drum (3) for laundry (5) and sensors (22) of humidity, producing an electric signal (SM) showing the humidity/amount of the laundry loaded. The method comprises the following steps: hot air is fed to the drum (3) so that it passes through the laundry (5), the drum (3) is rotated around the axis (6) of rotation, the amount/weight of the laundry is calculated based on the first value (of SHIFT) showing the characteristics of the electrical signal (SM) in a given initial measurement interval (TTM) of the drying cycle, the duration (TTC) of the main cycle is determined, showing the time that is necessary for the electric signal (SM), starting from the beginning of the drying cycle, reaches the predetermined ratio with the threshold value (TSH), the duration (TT) of the main cycle is increased, based on the calculated amount/weight of the laundry and the certain duration (TT) of the main cycle, and the drying cycle is stopped at the end (TEND) of the increased duration of the main cycle.
