SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing 1,4-diaminobutane (DAB). The method includes at least one biocatalytic step comprising the biocatalytic production of N-acetylDAB, followed by the in vitro conversion of an N-substituted precursor into DAB. The N-acetylDAB is obtained from N5-acetylornithine using decarboxylase or N-acetyl-4-aminobutyraldehyde using aminotransferase. The in vitro conversion of the N-substituted precursor into DAB takes place using a biocatalytic or chemical hydrolysis process.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain DAB from renewable carbon sources.
