FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composite material containing precious metals, and method for its production. Composite material contains an alloy of gold and aluminium and boron-based ceramics with melting point higher than that of gold, and density at most equal to 4 g/cm3. Gold and aluminium alloy is infiltrated into a ceramic, and concentration of aluminium in composite material is at most 20 wt% of total weight of composite material, preferably at most 5 wt% of total weight of composite material. Method for producing said composite material includes a step of sintering, which includes at least partial sintering of a porous preform consisting of said ceramics and a step for infiltration in which said porous preform is impregnated with said alloy under pressure of 10 to 200 bar, preferably from 75 to 150 bar. Said composite material is used as material for production of watches and for making jewellery.
EFFECT: providing a composite material with low density and high hardness.
