SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely pulmonology, and is intended for screening diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma. Method includes registration of expired air and its analysis, for which registration and analysis of the absorption spectrum of exhaled air, besides, it is preceded with measurement of absorption spectrum of exhaled air in verified groups of patients with bronchopulmonary diseases representing a diagnostic interest, calculating the average squared Mahalanobis distances from the absorption spectrum of exhaled air of each group member to absorption spectra of exhaled air of the other group members. Then the average value of the said average values and confidence interval.

EFFECT: if the value within the range of 1, 28-2, 29 COBD is diagnosed, while the value more than 2,29 bronchial asthma is diagnosed.
