FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing high-viscosity poly-through oligomerisation of alpha-olefin in the presence of aluminium chloride catalyst used in the form of complex with toluene or ethylbenzene and vinyl acetate. Method is characterised by that the alpha-olefin used is a fraction C8, C10, C12, C14 or mixture thereof, the number of aluminium chloride is 1.5-2.2 wt% of the amount of alpha-olefin and not less than 27.5 wt% in complex with toluene or ethylbenzene and vinyl acetate, oligomerisation is carried out at temperature not higher than 100°C in isothermal conditions.

EFFECT: conducting the process for oligomerisation of alpha-olefin in the declared conditions enables to obtain Poly-Alpha-olefins with viscosity at 100°C of not less than 19 mm2/s, which can be used as components of grease for aircraft and as basic components of motor oils.
