FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of open-pore nano-structured nickel. Powdered nickel nitrate crystalline hydrate and liquid polyatomic alcohol as gas-forming reducing agent are mixed with following ratio: liquid polyatomic alcohol/powdered nickel nitrate crystalline hydrate of 1:(2.5-4). Heated to 80 °C crucible is filled with produced mixture for not more than 1/5 of its height and local initiation of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in mixture with constant discharge of gaseous products formed as combustion result reaction is performed.

EFFECT: provided is higher quality of porous nano-structured nickel with specific surface area from 20 to 40 m2/g as well as homogeneity of nano-structures without inclusions of unreacted reagents.
