FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. An RF coil structure is a "birdcage" type resonator comprising a plurality of links arranged in parallel to the longitudinal axis of the body of a patient, wherein the "birdcage" type resonator comprises two or more RF drive ports connected to different links, wherein RF signals are transmitted through the two or more RF drive ports to the two or more links, arranged asymmetrically about the horizontal and/or vertical axis of the cross-section of a body area.
EFFECT: improved uniformity of the magnetic field.
