FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to automation and telemechanics on railway transport. In method infrastructure facilities are used as set first reference objects system, in real time for simultaneous determination of coordinates of vehicle and laser scanning area, scanning results are processed in automatic mode and model of current position of objects in form of cloud of points in accordance with coordinates of vehicle is positioned on digital map with specified system of reference objects. At that, in zone of positioning of moving vehicle determined reference objects and their current spatial position in form of clouds of points is aligned with their position on design of a three-dimensional vector map by minimising coordinate closing error, true current geographic position of moving rail vehicle is calculated relative to reference objects.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of positioning is achieved.
