FIELD: railways.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used for determination of a location of a locomotive on a technological scheme of railway tracks. Primary data is received for determination of a location of a locomotive, using satellite navigation means, railway tracks are represented on a territory map, in a vector format, in the form of polylines, the current coordinate of the locomotive is transmitted to a server by means of a communication channel, polylines located at a set distance from a point of location of the locomotive with the current coordinate are determined, minimum distances from the point of location of the locomotive with the current coordinate to points of the formed set of polylines are determined, and the nearest point is selected, which is taken for a true location of the locomotive. Next, a path traversed by the locomotive from the beginning of the polyline and the ratio of the path traversed by the locomotive to the total length of the polyline are determined, then, each polyline on the territory map is matched with a line on the technological scheme of railway tracks, made in a rectangular system of coordinates, using the ratio of the path traversed by the locomotive to the total length of the polyline, a point of location of the locomotive on the corresponding line of the technological scheme of railway tracks is determined.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determination of a location of a locomotive on a technological scheme of a railway track.
