MOTION-COMPENSATED INTERVENTIONAL MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING Russian patent published in 2016 - IPC A61B5/55

Abstract RU 2580189 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of a patient's moving body part placed within the MRI examination area; the method involves the stages as follows: a) collecting the monitored data from a micro coil attached to an interventional instrument inserted into the body part, b) exposing the body part to a pulse sequence to receive one or more magnetic resonance signals. The motion and/or rotation parameters describing the motion of the body part are derived from the monitored data; the pulse sequence parameters are adjusted so as to compensate for the motion in the image by shifting or rotating during the scanning procedure in accordance with the motion and/or rotation parameters, c) producing a MR signal data collection by repeating the stages a) and b) more than once, d) reconstructing one or more MR images from the MR signal data collection. The MRI apparatus for implementing the method comprises the main magnetic coil to generate a homogeneous constant magnetic field in the examination area, a number of gradient coils to generate switchable magnetic gradients in different directions in space in the examination area, a radio-frequency coil to generate radio-frequency pulses in the examination area and/or receive the MR signals from the patient's body in the examination area, a control unit to monitor the timed radio-frequency pulse sequence and switchable magnetic gradients, and a reconstruction unit. A data carrier comprises computer-run commands for implementing the method for the MRI of a patient's moving body part placed in the MRI examination area.

EFFECT: using this group of inventions is expected to enable to reduce scanning time and provide effective motion compensation.
