FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: mechanism for changing piston stroke of internal combustion engine in each cycle of its operation comprises gearing with first gear wheel installed in engine housing without possibility of rotation, and second gear wheel with teeth formed on its inner surface, wherein second gear is engaged with first gear wheel to ensure constant length of crank and variable length cam to get variable length of piston stroke in full cycle of engine operation. Orientation of crank and eccentric relative to axis of piston reciprocation is set so that crank and eccentric together provide positive torque at crankshaft, when piston is at TDC. Also selectively set dimensions and location of gearing so that to ensure preset ratio of length of cam to length of crank.
EFFECT: high output torque, output power, fuel efficiency, power per unit volume and low level of harmful emissions.
