FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and specifically to analysis by thin-layer chromatography of 4,5-dihydroxy imidazoline-2-thione for protection of metals from acid corrosion in oil and petrochemical industry, machine building, chemical and other industries for protection of steel equipment operated in acidic media. Extracted sample of analysed mixture is applied on starting line of chromatographic plate and dried in air for 10 minutes. Then plate is placed in prepared alcoholic-alkaline mixture before ascending eluent front movement along plate to distance of 15 mm from line start. Then, after drying on air, plate is developed in iodine chamber until coloured stains appear. Eluent contains butanol and aqueous ammonia solution at a ratio of 90:10 vol%.
EFFECT: invention enables complete separation of 4,5-dihydroxy imidazoline-2-thione derivatives and thiourea, as well as identification of said substances.
