FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is the method of producing isopropyl-m-xylene hydroperoxide via the liquid-phase oxidation of isopropyl-m-xylene with atmospheric oxygen at atmospheric pressure, process temperature of 120-130°C, for 1.5-2 hours, in the presence of 1-3 wt % N-hydroxyphthalimide as a catalyst. According to the disclosed method, the content of isopropyl-m-xylene hydroperoxide is equal to 16-21%.
EFFECT: catalyst prevents the use of an initiator and alkaline derivatives, which significantly simplifies the process while achieving the high rate of oxidation of isopropyl-m-xylene.
