FIELD: chemical industry; electronics; nanotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention may be used in manufacture of nanoelectronic devices, chemical current sources, composites, lubricants and coatings. First, natural flaked graphite powder is treated with a fluorohalide - iodine heptafluoride to obtain an intercalated compound of fluorinated graphite, which corresponds to empirical formula (C)xFJ0.14·yJF7, where x=1÷1.9; y=0÷0.2. Thermal decomposition of obtained compounds is then carried out at 60÷500°C to obtain functionalised graphene consisting of carbon atoms and 8.98÷13.84 at% fluorine. Functionalised graphene can additionally contain nanocrystals of iodine with size of about 30 nm on graphene plane.
EFFECT: invention provides environmentally friendly mass production of graphene fluorides.
