FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a film which is biodegradable, is suitable for flushing in a toilet and during use may be used as a barrier for water or other fluids. In particular, said film contains a water-dispersible inner layer, which promotes breakdown of said film after flushing in toilet, as well as a water-impermeable coating layer, which allows to maintain integrity of said film during use. According to present invention, in order to obtain a combination of various functions, type and relative concentration of components in a water-impermeable layer are selected. This means that a large portion of polymers, included in said water-impermeable layer are biodegradable polymers, which can decompose under effect of microorganisms in an aqueous environment. To increase use of renewable resources in said layer, a relatively large amount of biodegradable polymers comprises polymers based on starch, which are obtained from renewable sources. Use of starch-based polymers reduces adhesion of said film.
EFFECT: authors of said invention showed that said film can easily be molded at high content of starch, if source material contains synthetic biodegradable polyesters in combination with starch, which improves molding from melt.
