FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of reducing amount of nitrogen and sulphur oxides in exhaust gas of internal combustion engine operating on lean mixes, includes passing of exhaust gas together with regulated amount of ammonia through a catalyst system containing one or more catalysts, active with respect to reaction with nitrogen to produce nitrogen oxides, where ammonia is added to exhaust or ammonia is formed after introduction to exhaust gas before passing exhaust gas through catalyst; passing treated exhaust gas through a turbine in turbo compressor; removal of sulphur trioxide and/or ammonium sulphur compounds present in exhaust of turbo-compressor, on next step of treating exhaust gas. Exhaust gas is passed through catalyst system at temperature higher than condensation temperature of ammonium compounds of sulphur, formed by reaction with ammonia in exhaust gas. Amount of ammonia in exhaust gas is adjusted to obtain an amount of less than 2 ppm by volume or more than 10 ppm by volume after passing through catalyst system.
EFFECT: effective reduction of nitrogen and sulphur oxides in exhaust gas of internal combustion engine running on lean mixtures.
