FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to a method of heating blast furnace stove. Method comprises combusting fuel with a lower heating value (LHV) of 9 MJ/Nm3 or less in a combustion region located in a combustion chamber in stove, in which there is maintained a stable, visible flame, and causing combustion gases to flow through and thereby heat refractory material in stove.
EFFECT: fuel is combusted with an oxidant comprising at least 85 % oxygen, and wherein combustion gases are caused to be recirculated into combustion region thereby diluting mixture of fuel and oxidant therein sufficiently for flame not to damage refractory material.
