FIELD: methods of reworking domestic and industrial solid wastes into marketing products. SUBSTANCE: wastes are introduced into upper portion of high-temperature shaft furnace; while moving downward towards hot hearth gases they are converted into gas formed from organic components of charge and molten metal and slag. Mixture of gases containing 5-95% pf oxygen at temperature of 273-227 K is introduced into lower portion of furnace (hearth) where carbon contained in wastes is burnt in oxygen of gases blown into hearth to carbon monoxide, due to which temperature in hearth rises to level adequate for melting inorganic portion of wastes. To create high temperature in hearth sufficient for heating the liquid products of melt to 1973-2273 K, part of gases blown into hearth (15-100%) is introduced directly to molten-metal pool and other part is introduced above level of liquid products of melt. Low-grade coal is loaded in molten metal in amount of 0.2-1.0 t per ton of wastes and high-toxic component of wastes. To absorb halogens and sulfur separated from wastes, limestone is loaded together with charge in amount sufficient to obtain ratio of CaO to silicon dioxide in finished slag between 0.8 and 4.0.
