SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of aluminium electrolytic method on electrolysers with coal and low-consumption anodes. Method for reduction of anode overvoltage includes supply of high-frequency current pulses to anode using high-frequency alternating-current pulse generator and variation of current pulse frequency from 104 to 108 Hz.

EFFECT: reduced specific power consumption during production of aluminium by reducing anode surface overvoltage of heterogeneous reaction for formation of CO2 due to additional heating and effect of alternating current pulses on kinetics of electrode processes.
