FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be applied to determine short circuit location in long power transfer lines. At preliminary stage, full line model is constructed in three-phase form with taking into account mutual inductance and capacitance coupling between wires of lines. In case of short circuit, values of complex phase voltages on buses and phase currents in line are measured and recorded. Then line model is divided into equal segments, for example between towers, voltages at ends of each segment in each phase are formed, starting from buses at one and another ends of line, current at ends of each segment in each phase are formed, starting from buses at one and another ends of line. Phase voltage modules are recorded at ends of each segment in each phase, starting from buses at one and another ends of line. Diagrams with axes on both sides are plotted of dependence of voltage modules from number of segment (or from distance). Intersection point of these curves from one and another ends of line corresponds to point of short circuit.
EFFECT: reducing labour expenses and higher accuracy when determining location of short circuit due to more complete consideration of parameters of lines.
