FIELD: electric power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric power engineering and can be used for determination of short circuit point in railway overhead system. In case of short circuit, values of complex voltages on buses of supply substations and currents in wires of contact system are measured and recorded. Contact system model is divided into equal sections, for example from support to support. Values of measured at short circuit voltage on buses and currents in wires from two ends of contact system are obtained from oscillograms of digital recorders of emergency processes. Voltages at short circuit are generated and stored at the end of each section in each wire, starting from buses from one and the other ends of the contact system. Modules and voltage angles are selected at the end of each section in each wire, starting from buses from one and the other ends of the line. Modules and angles of stresses at short circuit are used to plot graphs with axes on both sides of dependencies of modules and angles of stresses on the number of the section (on the distance). Point of intersection of graphs from one and the other ends of the contact system corresponds to the point of short circuit.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the location of damage by taking into account the values of the impedance of wires and the inter-wire longitudinal and transverse resistance of the wires of the contact network, taking into account the load values of electric rolling stock and the parameters of equivalent circuits of autotransformers.
