FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the treatment of metals by pressure and can be used in the manufacture of gun barrels of 4.5–30 mm caliber. In the method, the radial crimping machine comprises a retaining center and a hollow driving center. In the method, the driving center is made with a small cylinder and teeth at the end in the front, a large cylinder with outer grooves without back walls in the middle and a shank in the rear. Also, a cavity is made from the end of the small cylinder. In the cavity there is an axially movable bushing, protruding by the front end of the end of the hollow guide center and an elastic element. Wherein the bushing from the front end is made with a conical cavity with a base on the front end and with longitudinal slits. From the rear end the bushing is made with a conical cavity with a base on the rear end and with longitudinal slits. And the resilient member is in the form of an additional conical bushing with a longitudinal slot located in contact with its lateral surface with a conical surface of the conical cavity at the rear end of the first bushing.
EFFECT: it is possible to exclude transverse oscillations of the leading part of the workpiece during its radial reduction.
