SUBSTANCE: invention is represented by capsule 1 having inlet surface C formed by round section 2a and protruding section 2b coming out of round section 2a to inlet surface has no symmetrical rotation. Capsule 1 further comprises an optically readable code 3 on the side wall of the cup-shaped body 4 of the capsule 1, opposite the projecting area 2b. Invention also represents the beverage preparation apparatus with capsule holder 13 designed to hold capsule 1 in the apparatus 10 for beverage preparation so that optically readable code is readable by code reader 24. For preparation of food products the fluid may be fed into the capsule. Invention discloses the means to prevent contamination of optically readable code 3 with fluid, steam, dirt, etc., and code reader 24 respectively.
EFFECT: it becomes possible to and more reliable than at present level of equipment, automatic recognition of capsule type and corresponding automatic setting of parameters of apparatus 10 for beverage preparation.
