FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems and methods of management and control of licenses for devices software, more specifically, to systems and methods for automatic determination of the order of security policy application to devices in a network on the basis of available number of licenses. Method of using security policies to devices includes the following steps: a. selection of criteria for devices, which, at least, describe the position of the devices, devices' users, devices' software and hardware, where the criteria is selected depending on the aims of devices sorting; b. obtaining of the criteria values for every device; c. calculation of a device coefficient value on the basis of obtained criteria for devices sorting, where the device coefficient is a numerical value calculated from the obtained values of criteria for devices; d. definition of the priority of use of the security policy for a device by sorting devices in accordance with the determined value of coefficient of the device; e. obtaining of security policy for every device and of available software license, which is used for application on the security policy device; f. determining of a set of software functionality, capable of providing the requirements of the obtained security policy; g. obtained security policy is used for the device based on the priority defined in paragraph d., software of which obtained available licenses, where there is selected a software license for use of the obtained security policies from the obtained available licenses, which allows using of a set of software functionality, capable to apply produced security policy to a device, at that, if the license enabling to fully use the policy is unavailable, from readily available licenses that one is selected, which allows to use the volume of functionality, which enables to use the obtained policy fully in the maximum degree.

EFFECT: high security of computer network devices with limited set of software licenses.
