SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a system and method of providing intelligent substitution parameters for clinical applications. Patient monitoring station comprises a display, a look-up table, an input device configured to input a selection of a selected clinical theme, a controller, which is programmed to or includes a means to determine which patient data in corresponding prioritised list of selected theme is available for patient for display, populate tiles of corresponding sector with patient data with priority according to selected clinical theme, and adjusting a number and size of tiles to fill and populate corresponding sector with tiles with highest priority available patient data. Patient monitoring station having a display, a controller configured to display patient data, wherein controller is programmed to or includes means populate tiles of sectors with patient data according to selected clinical theme, and select tiles based on system of priorities of tiles for each of clinical themes, wherein each tile has a maximum size and a minimum size, to enable controller to determine layout of sector. Patient monitoring system, comprising a patient information server, one or more patient monitoring stations. Method of displaying medical parameters includes following steps: in a look-up table, storing a plurality of clinical themes; selecting a selected one of clinical themes; determining which patient data in corresponding prioritised list of selected theme is available for display; controlling a display to display a plurality of sectors; populating tiles of corresponding sector with patient data in accordance with selected clinical theme; and adjusting at least one of a number and size of displayed tiles to fill corresponding sector with highest priority patient data.
