SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and system for transportation and combination of two or more groups of stepwise laid mail items. Method of transportation and combining includes following stages: a) transportation of said (i-1)-th and i-th groups (2, 2 '), starting from initial point (t_START) time along appropriate trajectories of forward movement to specified zone (CZ_i) of crossing; b) determining, for each group (2, 2') at least of position (p_{(i-1) 0}, P_i0) head (2 h, 2') in said initial time (t_START) time and length L_i i-th Group (2 '); and c) control of movement start of every group (2, 2') to specified zone (CZ_i) crossing depending on at least above position (p_{(i-1) 0}, P_i0) head (2 h, 2') in said initial time (t_START) time and length L_{of the i-1}, L_(i) so that front edge of said (i-1)st Group (2) crosses at least partially, rear edge of said i-th Group (2') to form one combined group (30) in said zone (CZ_i) crossing.

EFFECT: technical result is creation of simple and efficient method of correcting the effect of increasing/decreasing length of group.
