FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicles with mechanical transmission. Method of calibrating sensor for selected gear for mechanical transmission with gear shifting mechanism of H-type, in which selected gears are located in two rows and have several parallel planes of gearshift lever motion. Gearshift mechanism comprises a switching element, driven by a gear shift lever in angular and axial directions, in which is controlled movement of switching element in when switching gears using sensor for selected gear. Sensor provides information on movement of switching element in direction of locked in gear. Said movement is converted to velocity in direction of locked in gear and preset characteristics of speed variation are used to obtain calibration values in direction of locked in gear.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of determining next gear.
