SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to versions of an active buffer for passenger protection during collision. Buffer has an inflatable chamber formed by a reaction (base) wall for mounting against a rigid structure of vehicle and an expansion wall overlying base wall. According to first version, reaction wall and expansion wall consist of moulded plastic components. At least one of said walls comprises a plurality of tether tabs, each tether tab having a contoured edge defining a movable flap. Contoured edge has first and second ends defining a first hinge axis and a pair of complementary undulations defining a second hinge axis substantially parallel to first hinge axis. Movable flap has an attachment region joined to mating wall and second hinge axis extends between attachment region and first hinge axis. According to second version, rection and expansion walls form a set of internal limiters, each of which has a contoured edge forming a tear-off valve.

EFFECT: providing translational movement of buffer, reduction of its rotary component at expansion.
