FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in manufacture of hard metals or alloys. Method includes using a measuring rod blank, surface of which is coated with a protective coating of a hard high-temperature material. Workpiece at room temperature is then placed in a die engraving of forming assembly, which is heated to deformation temperature of workpiece. Assembly is fixed in container. Container is placed in a zone of deformation and obtained workpiece is formed under isothermal conditions. Moulded workpiece with protective coating is then placed in a die for final forming. Die with workpiece is placed in container and fixed therein. Resulting assembly is heated to deformation temperature of workpiece deformation and set in deformation zone of mould. Moulded workpiece is deformed under isothermal conditions to obtain product. Assembly is then cooled to a temperature which is not more than 0.5T, where T is deformation temperature of workpiece. Article removed from die.
EFFECT: providing higher accuracy of obtained articles.
