FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical, mining, food industries, and in medicine. For producing ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), modified with nanoparticles of titanium oxide, tetrachloromethane and benzene mixture is added to initial UHMWPE under intense stirring. In formed suspension benzyl alcohol is dropwise added. Reaction mass is intensely stirred while maintaining temperature of 180 to 210 °C. To formed suspension, solution of titanium tetrachloride in tetrachloromethane and benzene mixture is dropwise added. Above solution contains titanium tetrachloride in amount of its molar ratio to benzyl alcohol equal to 1 : 4-4.2. Mixture is stirred while maintaining temperature of 180 to 210 °C. Obtained suspension is cooled, filtered, treated with chloroform, distillation processing of solvents, and drying.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain UHMWPE modified with titanium oxide nanoparticles in form of white powder with particle size of 50-200 mcm, which has improved physical and mechanical properties, higher tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity of obtained material.
