FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ultra-high molecular polyethylene (UHMPE) impregnated by the silver nanoparticles, which can be used in the manufacture of biocidal products used in paint and medical industries. The method of producing ultra-high molecular polyethylene (UHMPE) impregnated by the silver nanoparticles, is carried out by processing UHMPE by the organic nano-silver solution and subsequent allocation of the final product. Herewith the impregnation of UHMWPE is carried out by the nano-silver colloidal solution in ethylene glycol, formed inside the matrix of UHMWPE when carrying out the following successive stages of the process, including the introduction of the powdery UHMWPE in a C1-C2-alkanol solution of silver fatty acid salts having the general formula CnH2n-1O2Ag, where n=12, 14, 16, 18 and the concentration of 10-3 mol/l, then adding the ethylene glycol solution of ascorbic acid to the resulting reaction mass under intensive stirring in a quantity equimolar to the amount of the used silver salt, stirring the reaction mass for 3-4 hours at a stirring speed of 500 rpm at a temperature of 20-50°C. Isolation of the formed product includes filtration, washing with distilled water and drying at 105-120°C. As salts, silver salts of the following fatty acids are used: palmitic, lauric, stearic, and myristic.
EFFECT: producing a composite material containing silver nanoparticles uniformly distributed over the surface, with a narrow particle size distribution ranging from 60 to 100 nm.
