FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing ultra-high molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE)-based composite material, having heat-conducting electric insulating properties, by polymerization filling. Produced composite material can be used in making heat-removing elements of electrical and electronic devices for various purposes. In the method aluminium nanoparticles with a surface oxide layer or an aluminium micro-and nanoparticles mixture with a surface oxide layer are used as a filler, micro- and nanoparticles are evacuated at 80-100 °C and cooled to room temperature. Then, the mixture is treated with vanadium tetrachloride or titanium tetrachloride in amount of 10-5-10-4 g per 1 g of the filler. In 20-30 min hydrocarbon solvent is added, the obtained suspension is treated with ultrasound, temperature is increased to 25-30 °C, organoaluminium compound is introduced, ethylene is fed to pressure of 0.2-0.4 atm and polymerised while intensive mixing. In 5-6 min ethylene pressure is increased to 2-3 atm and temperature is increased to 40-60 °C and ethylene polymerisation is continued on the surface of filler particles to form a coating of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with thickness of 6-150 nm.

EFFECT: method allows using fine filler - nano-sized particles, providing uniform distribution of a heat conducting filler in a polymer matrix, with producing a composite material with high heat-conducting and dielectric properties while maintaining good physical and mechanical properties.
