SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication systems. Invention is aimed at determining control plane based on mobile Internet protocol proxy node version 6 (PIMPv6), used by a network node in a peer transport network based on Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). Provided is a mechanism in PMIP-protocol stack to enable assembly of mobile access gateway/local anchor for mobility (MAG/LMA), for example, SGW (which can support both PMIP-project and PMIP RFC), determines which stack PMIP-protocols should be used to communicate with a peer node, that is, LMA/MAG.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing backward compatibility.
