FIELD: communication system.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is aimed at determining a control plane based on a mobile Internet protocol proxy node version 6 (PIMPv6), used by a peer node network node in a transport network based on Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). Embodiments provide a mechanism in a stack of PMIP protocols, to enable mobile access / local mobility (MAG/LMA) access node, for example SGW (which can support both PMIP-project and PMIP RFC), determine which stack of PMIP-protocols should be used to exchange data with peer, i.e. LMA/MAG.

EFFECT: technical result is providing backward compatibility between the PMIP RFC and the PMIP project.
