SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method of producing 5-chloro-3-(4-methylsulphonyl) phenyl-2-(2-methyl-5-pyridinyl)pyridine (Etoricoxib), involving oxidation of 5-chloro-3-(4-methylthio) phenyl-2-(2-methyl-5-pyridinyl)pyridine in presence of catalyst of oxidation and interphase transport catalyst to obtain Etoricoxib.
EFFECT: technical outcome is novel simple and efficient method of producing Etoricoxib-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2.
