FIELD: textile and paper; technology of manufacturing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of determining water resistance of materials, such as textile items, natural and artificial leather, fabric, non-woven materials and coatings, as well as testing hydrophilic properties of materials, water repellent compositions and impregnation compounds used to endow them with water resistance. Material sample weight increment is determined after its surface is subjected to the effect of static layer of water or water-salt solution. Exposure to a specified amount of liquid is carried out within the area limited by hydrophobic material, particularly Teflon ring.
EFFECT: simplified testing process and high score of water resistance of material.
