FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for production of bimetal of copper and low-carbon steel during making components used in designs of aluminium electrolysis units. Before diffusion welding there is carried out compression of workpieces surfaces at room temperature with application to them of specific pressure equal to p=(0.7-1.0) of the conventional yield point of copper with fixation of the package in a compressed state. Diffusion welding of the compressed package in the furnace is performed at 950-1,000 °C during 20 minutes. Produced blank is rolled at a temperature of 950-1,000 °C with relative deformation degree in height equal to 10-20 %.
EFFECT: method ensures production of bimetal, combining high electrical and heat conductivity of copper and strength properties of steel.
