FIELD: metalworking.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming, in particular to determination of porosity of metal ware, obtained by pressure shaping of a cast article, and can be used for determination of influence of pressure shaping on porosity of obtained metal product. Method consists in that a metal article is cut along a plane, which passes through volume of metal article, porosity of which is to be evaluated, part obtained after cutting is polished in plane of section. Obtained polished surfaces are polished, photographed, photograph is stored in form of a file on a computer. File with photograph is opened in a graphic editor. Number of pixels of image of section is determined. Areas which correspond to images of pores are coloured. Number of pixels corresponding to colour with which image of pores is coloured is determined. Number of pixels corresponding to colour, with which is coloured image of pores is divided by number of pixels of image of section. Obtained number characterises porosity of metal article in relative units.
EFFECT: technical result is determination of porosity of metal articles in relative units.
