FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to transmissions to continuously and inseparably convert rotation speed with corresponding torque. First transmission shaft represents cone with gears and oppositely turned helical gear transitions between them. Second shaft is parallel to external surface of cone, consists of pinion, which can freely move along it, but being engaged with it, for example, by means of extended keys or splines over shaft length. At beginning and end are gears, which diameter is equal to diameter of cone at location, and number of their teeth are proportional to first and last transmission gear ratio. Pitch of teeth of all gears and helical gear junctions is same. Gears of cone are interconnected by two oppositely turned spiral tooth paths, allowing both to increase and reduce gear ratio without changing direction of rotation of first shaft by second shaft gears rolling on them. In gear tracks on conical shaft can be located additional gears, which number of teeth is proportional to diameter of cone at intersection. At that, sufficient number of intermediate gears on first shaft, if necessary, enables to change transmission gear ratio with small pitch. For synchronization of second shaft pinion teeth position and position of teeth on helical gear transitions and pinions of first shaft must be used electronic or mechanical automatic control system, moving gear of second shaft along surface of tapered shaft so that teeth are constantly engaged.
