FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: basic variator of a wide-range transmission includes two bevel helical gears facing opposite directions and mounted on parallel shafts. A satellite with a movement mechanism is installed between the bevel spiral gears. The cavities of the bevel gears are cut in the form of an Archimedes spiral, in which the angle of inclination of the turns smoothly increases, but their step along the cone remains strictly constant. The axis of rotation of the satellite is installed perpendicular to the plane of the axes of rotation of the bevel helical gears, while the cavities of the bevel gears and the teeth of the satellite have a mating profile
EFFECT: reducing the size, increasing the speed, power and efficiency of the device is provided.
