FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of technical alumina ceramics and can be used, in particular, for making armor ceramics. For preparation of charge aluminium oxide, at least part of which is in γ-form, is mixed with mineralising additive and subsequent thermal treatment of obtained mixture is conducted. According to invention as mineralising additive titanium dioxide or salt of titanium (IV) are used, thermal decomposition of which titanium dioxide is formed, in combination with manganese (IV) oxide or manganese (II) oxide or manganese (II) salt, at thermal decomposition of which a manganese oxide (II) is formed. Mineralising additive in amount of 2-5 wt% is mixed with initial aluminium oxide, that is followed by thermal treatment of mixture of said initial aluminium oxide with said additive at temperature of 900-1,150°C. According to second version, as mineralising additive titanium dioxide or salt of titanium (IV) are used, at thermal decomposition of which titanium (IV) dioxide is formed in combination with calcium oxide or calcium salt, at thermal decomposition of which calcium oxide is formed. Additive is introduced in same amount.
EFFECT: implementation of aluminium oxide γ-form transfer in α-form and sintering of charge components in single operation at lower temperature that provides simple and cheap method of preparing charge for alumina ceramics.
