FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of ceramic material with high strength characteristics and can be used for production of ceramic armour elements and wear and chemical resistant articles. Mineralizing additive consisting of eutectic additive of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 system, magnesium oxide and yttrium oxide, and nanofibres of aluminium oxide is introduced into charge on the basis of aluminium oxide at the following ratio, wt. %: alumina (Al2O3) 97.5–98.2; a eutectic additive of 0.9–1.0; magnesium oxide (MgO) 0.4–0.8; yttrium oxide (Y2O3) 0.1–0.3; curtain of aluminium oxide (Al2O3) 0.1–0.5. To obtain a eutectic additive, alumina, silicon oxide and magnesium oxide are mixed, followed by heat treatment at temperature of 1280 ± 20 °C. Sinter is milled, then alumina, eutectic additive, magnesium and yttrium oxides, aluminium oxide nanofibers pre-dispersed using ultrasound are mixed by wet grinding in an aqueous medium, after which press powder is obtained by spray drying. Products are pressed and annealed in a chamber furnace at temperature of 1610–1650 °C with exposure for 1–2 hours.
EFFECT: due to introduction of aluminium oxide nanofibres it is achieved higher ballistic characteristics and lower sintering temperature of ceramic material.
