FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of monitoring contact between the wheel and the rail of the vehicle. Method of monitoring contact between the wheel and the rail of the vehicle includes the following stages: recording of vertical and/or lateral acceleration of at least one wheel (10) of the vehicle; storing the recorded acceleration together with associated angular and with associated geographical position of wheel (10); identification of acceleration events exceeding the predetermined parameter; classification of each event using computer physical model (22) of wheel (10). That is followed by frequency analysis of events associated with data of angular positions and/or with data of geographical positions of wheel (10), and if the frequency of at least one of the said events in one associated angular and/or associated geographic position exceeds the predetermined threshold, then wheel (10) and/or rail track (11) in the given geographical position are checked.
EFFECT: as the result railway operators can faster detect defects of wheels and rails.
