SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to monitoring the quality of oil products. Method involves collecting samples at different points in the course of preparing semisolid lubricant materials, their homogenization and analysis, wherein homogenisation of combined samples of semisolid lubricating materials is carried out by stirring them with a plunger at the rate of 60±10 double strokes per minute, and the analysis of water content in semisolid lubricating materials is carried out with the help of IR Fourier spectrometry, for this purpose, first, one prepares different samples of semisolid lubricating materials with known water content, then a calibration chart showing the relation of water content to the optical density at the frequency of maximum absorption 3,388 cm-1 is produced for the samples of lubricant materials with known water content and using the results of this calibration chart at that frequency the water content of the analysed semisolid lubricant materials is determined.

EFFECT: simpler, faster and more reliable analysis.
